Tugs Pushing Pampanito into Drydock

The 312-foot Submarine Pampanito was built by Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in 1943. Owned by San Francisco Maritime Park Association. Based at San Francisco.

Pampanito is a Balao-class submarine that has been open to the public as a museum ship since 1982. She saw two years of active service during World War II and is being restored to her state as of late summer, 1945, to represent the height of WW II submarine development. See the ship's web site for extensive information on her history.
