Sacramento Delta

The Sacramento–San Joaquin river delta, also called the California Delta, includes hundreds of miles of rivers and sloughs northeast of San Francisco Bay. The Sacramento River, coming south past Sacramento, combines with the San Joaquin River, which flows past Stockton, to form Carquinez Strait, which enters San Pablo Bay at Vallejo and thereby feeds fresh water into San Francisco Bay. Although less than 50 miles away, it is a world apart from the Bay, with fresh water, hot summers, and a slower pace of life.
